Developed by Eric Franklin, is about movement education. It is based on the use of imagery.
- Imagery provide the brain with the feedback it needs to create improved ease of movement, flexibility and strength. Imagine you are in a dark room, then the light is turned on and suddenly you can move freely and avoid collision. Imagery is turning the light on in your body.
- Experiential Anatomy - Principles from bio-mechanics, for example the bone rhythms, how the bones actually turn and maneuver in movement, are used but learnt in an experiential way so the body senses and feel it, rather than an academinc way where it might stay in the head.
- Reconditioning Movement - The body was designed to move. Where there is lack of movement life becomes stagnant and stale. The Franklin-Method uses a rich variety of movement ranging from everyday acitvity: walking, stitting, standing to dynamic stretching, to Thera-BandsĀ® and Franklin therapy ball exercises.
